William Leroy Cameron

November 22, 1943 — June 12, 2026

William L. Cameron, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on June 12, 2026, in his home.

Born on November 22, 1943, Bill was the son of the late James and Eva (Printz). He was a graduate of Carlisle High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed at Carlisle Shoe Factory and Hall’s Motor Transit Company, and he worked at Fry Communications until he retired. During his retirement, he worked as a custodian for the Mechanicsburg First Church of God Community Center.

Bill was an involved member of the First Church of God in Mechanicsburg for many years, where he served on the church Council. Bill taught Sunday School and Monday Night Bible School, and he always enjoyed helping with the annual Vacation Bible School. He also more recently attended the First Church of God in Carlisle.

Bill was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. He loved working outside and swimming (especially in the ocean), but some of his greatest moments involved spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of over 59 years, Benita “Bert” Cameron; his daughter and son-in-law Deborah and Elmer Zeigler; his son and daughter-in-law Todd and Jenn Cameron; his son Jerret “JJ” Cameron; his grandchildren Jonathan “JC” Zeigler, Jadyn Zeigler, Jesara Zeigler, Jaxon Cameron, and Gracie Cameron; and his sisters Betty Morris, Carol Foster, and Joyce Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Mary Raudabaugh and brother Jimmy Cameron.

Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
