William M. Allison (Bill), 89, of Carlisle PA died peacefully at home following a lengthy illness. Bill was born in Emmerton VA on January 20, 1936, to Nettie Mullin Allison and John D Allison. He graduated from Farnham High School.
Bill was a ventriloquist as a young man. He appeared on the Arthur Godfrey Show and opened for artists like Eddie Arnold and Elvis Presley at the Mosque in Richmond. He began his broadcasting career as a DJ (where he met Patsy Cline’s mom and promoted Patsy’s music. Bill served as a pall bearer at her funeral and has a recorded memory in the Patsy Cline Memorial in Winchester). Bill moved to managing radio stations in Virginia, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania; and founded his own company, Radio Management Systems – providing simulated FCC inspections for radio and TV stations across the country.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Frederick and John M. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann, with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage on September 1st; children William Gary (Julia), James Ray (Jean), and Marsha Ann Braucher (Keith); grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Cheek (Tommy), Dane Allison (Johnny), and Allison Braucher; 7 nieces, a nephew, and cousins.
A member of Second Presbyterian Church Carlise, Bill’s memorial service will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Gebelius. Services Friday, October 10, 2025: Interment 10AM Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens (Sermon on the Mount section)1921 Ritner Hwy. Carlisle PA 17013; Memorial Service: 11AM Second Presbyterian Church 528 Garland Dr, Carlisle, PA 17013. Lunch to follow in the rotunda. In lieu of flowers, make donations to “Second Presbyterian Church” Memorial Fund.
