Virginia "Ginny" D Pickering

Virginia D. Pickering, age 82, a beloved wife, mother, "NeeNee," sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

She was deeply loved and cherished by everyone who knew her.

Ginny was born on April 14, 1943, in East Millinocket, Maine to the late James and June Linscott.

She was a determined and hard worker for her entire life. She worked for over 25 years at Georgia Pacific Mills. She was an avid volunteer for many organizations in Maine, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania during her lifetime. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends sharing her various passions; singing, cooking, gardening, crafting, decorating, and golfing to name a few. Ginny was a proud and active member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Ginny was an avid gardener who enjoyed being outside in her garden and cultivating beautiful flowers, which she generously shared during her 25 years in Carlisle, PA.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Sam Pickering, her children: Mischell (John), Noel, and Matt (Amy); her stepchildren: Paul (Maria) and Michael; her brother, Tom (Bonnie) ; and 7 grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and togetherness that will continue to live in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have had their lived touched by her.

In addition to her parents, Ginny was preceded in death by her brother, Herbie Linscott, and her sister, Karen Hughen.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 S Spring Garden St, Carlisle, PA 17013.
