Vada L. Wetzel

Vada L. Wetzel, 92, of Carlisle, died peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Letort Spring Nursing Home surrounded by her family.

Born in Shippensburg in 1933, she was the daughter of the late John and Thelma (Thomas) Cover and the wife of the late Marlin Wetzel, who passed away in 1986.

Vada was not just a loving mother and grandmother, she was a strong-willed, independent woman who did things her own way to the very end. Vada was so creative. She was an accomplished seamstress and she made the best tasting, beautifully decorated wedding cakes. She thought outside the box; there wasn't a problem she couldn't solve or a task or craft she didn't master.

Vada was an active member of the Newville Church of God for many years and continued her worship at the Lighthouse Church of God, Carlisle, assisting with Sunday collections. Vada had a great sense of humor, always making the best of life. She continued to be curious and adventurous throughout her life, traveling across the United States, Europe and China in her later years. Vada led a full and happy life. She will be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, where the family will greet guests after 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment will be held privately.
