Timothy Ralph Settlemyer, 53, passed away on March 16, 2024, at home, surrounded by members of his loving family.
Tim was born in Williamsport, PA, on January 23, 1971, the son of the late Kenneth T. Settlemyer and Jo’an Settlemyer (Empfield).
He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 21 years, Sara, his brothers Ken (wife Heather, children Shandra and Ian), Jon (wife Romy), uncle Bernard Settlemyer, aunt Roi’an Koerber, uncle and aunt Chick and Ethel Empfield, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harry and Pat Astle, brother-in-law Andrew Astle (wife Christine) brother-in-law Alan Astle (wife Almae), numerous cousins and nieces and nephews, his “sister from another mister” Eva Rdesinski, his best friend since before kindergarten, Mark Schall, and his beloved cats, Tulip and Azalea.
Tim graduated from Jersey Shore High School, Grove City College with a bachelor’s degree in history, and Slippery Rock University with a master’s degree in history. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts and completed Woodbadge training as a proud member of the Fox Patrol.
Tim was employed at Delta Dental of PA, McNees, Wallace and Nurick, Dickinson College, and most recently at Community Cares, a job he cared passionately about.
Tim loved Freemasonry, starting as a teenager with DeMolay. He held dual membership in LaBelle Vallee Lodge 232 and Carlisle Lodge 260. Tim served twice as Worshipful Master of Cumberland Star Lodge 260. He served in multiple Masonic organizations, including as a founding member of Bryn Athyn Quarry Assemblage and Ubar Grotto. Tim served in leadership roles with numerous Masonic Organizations. He was also a member of Knights of the York Cross of Honour. From 2021 to 2022, he served as Grand Principal Sojourner in the Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter of Pennsylvania.
His family would like to thank Dr. Reza Abrishamchian for the gift of three more precious months with Tim, and Kim Beers-Group for her kindness and friendship just when it was needed the most.
A Masonic Service will be held at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle on Saturday March 23, 2024 at 10 AM, with visitation from 9 AM to 10 AM. Burial service will occur at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens 1921 Ritner Highway, Carlisle at a later date.
