Tessie Ella Shrawder

Tessie Ella Shrawder, 91, of Carlisle passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home. She was born December 27, 1926 in Heidelberg Township in Lebanon County the daughter of the late Miles E. Copenhaver and Susan (Krall) Copenhaver. On February 8, 1944, she married Thomas Jefferson Shrawder who preceded her in death in 1986.

She worked as a production employee with Reeves Hoffman and G.S. Electric. Many people will remember Tessie when she worked at Wendy’s in Carlisle. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren in Carlisle. She loved flowers and working in her garden, but most of all, she loved taking care of her family.

Tessie is survived by her children: Thomas E. Shrawder and his wife, Anne Marie of Prince Frederick, MD, Nancy Walker of Carlisle, Joanne Myers and her husband Tom of Carlisle, Earl A. Shrawder and his wife Beverly of Gettysburg, Carl L. Shrawder and his wife Susan of Carlisle, and William Shrawder and his wife Barbara of Conway, SC, 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, John and his wife Joanne, and Cyrus and his wife Susan, and a sister, Shirley Bondy and her husband Charles.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Helen Lowe Copenhaver, a daughter, Anna Belle Craig on Dec. 20, 2017, son- in-laws, James Craig and Max Walker, five brothers Irvin, Grant, Miles Jr., Clarence, and Frank, and four sisters Betty Wright, Marian Bailey, Alverta Bobb, and Mary Hippensteel.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the Carlisle Church of the Brethren 1340 Forge Road, Carlisle, PA with Pastors Jim and Marla Abe officiating. Burial will be in the Westminster Memorial Gardens.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until time of the service on Wednesday at the church.
