Terry L Naugle

Terry L. Naugle, 73, passed away in Harrisburg Hospital on January 7, 2026. Born March 11, 1952 in Harrisburg, Terry was the son of the late Lorne and Dessie Naugle. He was preceded in death by his brother Barry Mohn.

Terry resided in Carlisle with his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Naugle. He is also survived by his daughter, Teah Hertzler (Michael) and granddaughters Emma and Erin of Swedesboro, New Jersey, son Jonathan Naugle and grandpup Jasmine of Carlisle, brothers Lonnie Naugle of Florida and Mike Reed (Sharon) of South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating in 1970 from John Harris High in Harrisburg, Terry enlisted in the United States Marines. He was a Rifleman and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. He also trained as an Unattended Ground Sensor Specialist and received a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, a Good Conduct Medal and a Navy Unit Citation. Upon his 1974 discharge, Terry worked briefly at Frog and Switch in Carlisle before becoming employed at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg until he retired after 35 years. Terry and his wife Dorothy also spent over 40 years as caretakers, first to children in the foster care system and later to adults with special needs.

Aside from his children and granddaughters, Terry was most proud of being one of the founding members of the Edward Jay Rykoskey Post #1 Carlisle Vietnam Veterans. He was also a member of the VFW Post 477, Amvets Post 274 and American Legion Post 101, all of Carlisle. Terry appreciated music, especially country and oldies, and enjoyed sharing that love with his children. He enjoyed hunting with his son and you could probably find him catching a nap in his hunting blind once in a while. Terry spent many years coaching youth football, baseball and softball in Carlise and loved playing Santa for family and friends for over two decades.

A private viewing will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, Carlisle. A placing of ashes will be arranged in the spring.
