Sylvia A. Henderson

Sylvia Henderson, age 84, loving mother and adoring wife to the late Stanley Henderson, passed away in the afternoon hours of September 3, 2022, after succumbing to complications after sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle accident that occurred May 26, 2022. Sylvia was born in 1938 in St. Petersburg, Florida and grew up surrounded by her family, mother, Adine (Audibert) and, father, Harold Mears, two brothers, Gary and Mike, and sister, Micki. Sylvia was a loving and caring woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She loved animals, especially butterflies, and her beloved cat, “Baby”. She enjoyed baking treats for friends, doctors, and sales staff of her favorite stores, banana bread and brownies were her specialty. “Sylvia never met a stranger.” She honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps. and subsequently worked at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her with all of their hearts. She is survived by two sons, Frederick “Steven” (wife Nena) Canfield, and Nick Canfield (significant other Stephanie Bates); seven grandchildren, Sarah, Ryan, Victoria, Katie, Karen, Kelly, Kacey, and also Annie and Trent; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (wife Mary) Mears, and Michael (wife Kathy) Mears, and one sister, Micki Seymour. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Christina Canfield.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hoffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road Carlisle, PA 17013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sylvia to the Furry Friends Network, 563 Mountain Road, Boiling Springs, PA 17007.
