Shirley A. Snyder, 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed on to her heavenly reward on April 22, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Snyder, and family.

Born on November 2, 1941, to the late John and Mary (Griffie) Morrison, Shirley was the youngest of three children. She was a 1959 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, where she met her “high school sweetheart” Richard in the tenth grade. Married in 1962, Shirley and “Rich” recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. As a young adult, Shirley began administrative work at the Farmer’s Trust Company in Carlisle. Continuing this career path while also balancing motherhood, she later was employed at: Morrison’s Oil Service, The Patriot News Co., and a long tenure at Cumberland-Perry Vocational-Technical School, from where she retired in 2007. Shirley was a dedicated servant of her church, volunteering in a wide array of capacities, most notably a member of her (Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren) choir for many years. She enjoyed cooking for others, hosting dinner parties, roller skating, traveling, antiquing, arts & crafts, flower gardening, and time at the beach.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: Her Two Children, Chris Snyder Blenderman (Dave) of Carlisle, and Troy Snyder (Michael Foley) of Harrisburg. Her Four Grandchildren, Chad Finkenbinder (Kathy) of Carlisle, Dustin Finkenbinder (Katie) of Dillsburg, Joshua Finkenbinder (Amanda) of Pittsburgh, and Daniel Blenderman of Yotsukaido, Japan. Her Five Great Grandchildren, Brian, Evan, Anna, Louis, and Franklin.

Services will be held Thursday May 1, 2025, at Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, 301 Gale St, Mechanicsburg 17055.

The viewing is 10:00 am – 11:00 am, the memorial service begins at 11:00 am, with a luncheon meal and fellowship to follow. On Friday May 2, the interment will begin promptly at 11:30 am at Letort Cemetery, 1198 Claremont Rd, Carlisle 17013.

Contributions may be made to Mechanicsburg Church of the Brethren, or New Hope Ministries, 5228 E. Trindle Rd, Mechanicsburg 17050.
