On July 30, 2026 Shirley Alice Myers, 86, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband of 68 years, Lee E. Myers ("Snowball"), by her side.
Shirley was born on July 30, 1940, and throughout her life was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She possessed a caring spirit, a generous heart, and a warm smile that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Above all else, Shirley cherished spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love created a strong foundation for generations of her family.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband, Lee E. Myers ("Snowball"); her sisters, Dorris Conklin and Donna Chronister; and her children, Ricky Myers and wife Lisa, Wanda Wilson, and Betty "Betsy" Kreiser and husband William “Bill”.
She was a proud grandmother to Chianne and Donald Fitting, Jerry and Alison Kreiser, Jamie and Katie Kreiser, Chrissy Kreiser and Josh Slavin, and Shawn and Summer Bowermaster. Shirley was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed camping and boating with her family and friends. Following retirement, she and Lee fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to all 50 states, completing their goal with a memorable trip to Alaska. She loved life on the farm, especially tending to her flower beds and watching the beauty of her gardens bloom each year.
One of Shirley's greatest joys was square dancing, an activity she enjoyed whenever possible. She could often be found relaxing in a lawn chair at the local firehouse fair, listening to live music and enjoying the community she loved. Shirley also adored her faithful dogs, Tiny, Penelope and Snuggles, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
Shirley dedicated many years of her life caring for others as a private in-home nurse's aide. She also worked for several years at Kinney Shoes. Her dedication to helping others reflected the compassion and selflessness she carried throughout her life.
She was a faithful member of Salem Stone Church of Carlisle and an active member of the Plainfield Lions Club.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Yarlett Swartz and Russell Swartz; her siblings, Helen Myers, Nancy Swartz, Russel (June) Swartz, and Edgar Swartz; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Myers; and her son-in-law, Kevin Wilson.
Shirley's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her gentle spirit, caring nature, and the countless memories she created with those she held dear.
