Sharon Costigan

Sharon Louise (Hardy) Costigan, 78, of Halifax, PA, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on June 19, 1947, Sharon was the daughter of the late Floyd and Jean Hardy of Oxford, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Costigan, her sisters Diane Berdinka, Barbara Drayton, and Donna Cotton, and her nephew Jacob Drayton.

Sharon is survived by her five children: James Madonna, Daniel Costigan, Vincent Costigan, Craig Costigan, and Heather Costigan, as well as nine cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Vibrant, fun-loving, and always the center of attention, Sharon had a zest for life and a gift for storytelling. She loved sharing stories from her adventures and life experiences, captivating everyone around her. Always ready for the next adventure, she delighted in traveling to new destinations, hunting for treasures at yard sales and auctions, exploring thrift stores, and attending concerts. She loved gathering loved ones around her table for a home-cooked meal, losing herself in thriller novels, and solving the mysteries in her favorite crime shows. A devoted mother and grandmother above all else, she found her greatest happiness in her family.

Sharon spent many fulfilling years as the head cook at Waring Dining Hall at Penn State University, where she not only prepared meals but also formed meaningful connections with the students who came through her line. Her warmth and genuine interest in others made the dining hall feel like home for countless students over the years.

Those who knew Sharon will forever remember her infectious laugh, her captivating stories, and the joy she brought to every gathering.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, her visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon followed by her service at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. There will also be a live stream link for the service on Sharon’s obituary page at www.hoffmanfh.com.
