Ruth I. Snyder, of Carlisle, passed away Saturday, May 4 at Church of God Home, Carlisle at the age of 88. Born in Carlisle, PA she was the daughter of the late Erma (Hershey) Taylor. She was also the daughter of the late John Gibson and the stepdaughter of the late Harry Taylor. She was the loving wife of the late Rev. Lee R. Snyder.

 A graduate of Carlisle High School’s Class of ’53, Ruth was a lifelong member of the First Church of God’s Women’s Ministry and was always supportive of her late husband’s career in the ministry. She was a member of the First Church of God, in Carlisle.

 Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, and puzzles. She was affectionately known by her family and friends for her conversational nature.

 Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. Snyder (wife Chriss) of Tyrone, PA and Samuel J. Snyder of Carlisle. Daughters Diane R. Blyler (husband John), of Spring Glen and Joy F. Linebaugh (husband Douglas) of Mechanicsburg also survive her, along with 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive her. Ruth was predeceased by a daughter, Susan E. Huth; a grandson, Timothy L. Snyder; and a brother, John R. Gibson.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17 at First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, PA. Viewings will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. the evening before (on May 16) at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013 and also one hour prior to the services May 17 at the church. Interment will follow at North Middleton First Church of God Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270 Harrisburg, PA 17110.
