Romaine June Mellott, 98, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Romaine was born June 3, 1927, a daughter of the late Reuben B. Corman and Ruth V. Frye Corman. For more than 71 years, she was the loving wife of the late Frank E. Mellott.
She graduated from Carlisle High School in 1944 and worked for the Naval Supply Depot as a purchasing agent for 6 years. She married Frank Mellott in October 1945 and together they owned Mellott’s Masonry & Construction Company in Carlisle for more than 50 years. Romaine was a lifelong member of Waggoners Church and served as the church pianist for more than 70 years. She was a member of the Waggoners Ladies Loyalty Class, Bible Study group, and was very involved in church and community activities. Romaine taught piano lessons for more than 50 years to over 200 students and she was the co-founder and pianist of the Southern Gospel Group, Chapter VII for 39 years.
Romaine was a devoted follower of Christ and lived her life raising her children in the ways of the Lord. She touched many lives with her endless kindness and compassion and never tired spending time entertaining family and friends.
Romaine leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her family. She was predeceased in death by her husband Frank E. Mellott and two brothers, Richard and Robert Corman. She is survived by son, Daryl Mellott and wife, Cina of Carlisle, son, Dennis Mellott and wife, Cindy of Lebanon, son, Mike Mellott and wife, Carolyn of Carlisle, daughter, Cheryl Rohm and husband, Steve of Carlisle, and daughter, Tamara Dunning and husband, Gene of Carlisle, 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Roberta Sprecher and a sister-in-law, Marie Kepner.
A viewing will be held Saturday, July 5 from 6 to 8 pm at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. Services will be held Sunday, July 6 at Waggoners Church, 1271 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, PA 17013, where a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 pm. The family will receive guests after 2 pm Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in Waggoners Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waggoners Church at the address above.
