Richard R. Johnson

Jun 3, 1951 — Aug 2, 2026

Richard R. Johnson, of Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 2, 2026, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 75 years old.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Richard C. Johnson and Nancy Johnson, the family eventually relocated to Central Pennsylvania, where Richard graduated from Big Spring High School, followed by Dickinson College with a Bachelor’s degree in biology.

He began work as a pharmacy technician at Carlisle Hospital. There, he met his wife Patti, and they married in 1979.

Richard’s career took him to AmerisourceBergen, where he worked for more than 38 years, at first in sales before transitioning to information strategy and technology.

Following his retirement, Richard and Patti enjoyed traveling, taking trips to Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Canada, the UK and Ireland. He was also highly involved within their church, serving on the board of trustees, missions committee, and heading up numerous tech initiatives over the years. Retirement also gave him time to volunteer with the local chapter of the Red Cross and dedicate more time to the local ham radio club, a longtime hobby of his.

Throughout both his career and his retirement, Richard was a teacher and mentor to many. He lives on through the myriad of lives he touched throughout his life.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Nancy. He is survived by his wife Patti, daughter Becky Vrabel and her husband Mike Vrabel, daughter Andrea Johnson, sister Susie Houghton, and many nieces and nephews.
