Richard Leon Auchey

Richard “Dick” Leon Auchey, 76, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Dick was born on August 20, 1949 in Spring Grove, PA, son of the late Claude and Erma (Lehigh) Auchey.

He is survived by his companion, Julia Forbes, of Carlisle; daughter, Stephanie Perago (Steve), of York; son, Matthew Auchey, of Kansas City;grandchildren, Em and Erin Perago, of York; brothers Larry, Claire, David, and Steve; sisters, Vicki and Cindy, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Erma; his second wife, Elizabeth Fazio Auchey; and brothers, Donald, James, and Ronald.

A graduate of New Oxford High School, Class of 1967, Dick was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Vietnam War, reaching the rank of Radarman Second Class, and then Second Leading Petty Officer of the Combat Information Center. He received a National Defense Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation for his service aboard the USS Oklahoma City. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1978.

Later in life, Dick found a deep sense of brotherhood through Freemasonry. He was a proud member of the Patmos Lodge No. 348 andserved as Worshipful Master in 2005. He was a long-time member of theValley of Harrisburg, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, where he served as Most Wise Master of the Chapter of Rose Croix. He was coronated a Sovereign Grand Inspector General and 33o member in 2015 in Indianapolis, IN.

A service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Hoffman Funeral Home in Carlisle, PA, with visitation starting at 10am, followed by a memorial service at 11am. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fort Indiantown Gap. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Children’s Dyslexia Center of Central PA, P.O.
