Rev. Sharonn D. Halderman

Rev. Sharonn D. Halderman, age 75, of Boiling Springs, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at M.S. Hershey Medical Center with her loving family at her side.
She was born June 18, 1941, in Wiseman’s Run, Doddridge County, WV to the late Berlin D. and Helen (Wakefield) Davis.
Pastor Sharonn served as United Methodist Clergy for 32 years, becoming Licensed to Preach in 1975, an Ordained Deacon in 1977, and an Ordained Elder in 1980. She graduated magna cum laude from both Shenandoah College in 1964 and Salem College in 1966, as well as magna cum laude with a Masters of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1979. She served Woodland Area Parish in Clearfield County, Third Street UMC in Williamsport, Juniata Parish in Juniata County, and First UMC in Altoona. She was appointed as District Superintendent of the Wellsboro District and then the New Cumberland District. She later served Grace UMC in Carlisle from which she retired in 2007. Most recently she attended Middlesex UMC along with her husband and family.
Sharonn was a retreat leader, published author, Delegate to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences of the UMC and Delegate to the World Methodist Conference. She was instrumental in establishing the Parish Resource Center for Lancaster Area Churches. She was an avid reader who loved gardening, traveling, and camping. The special focus of her life was her family; she especially loved being daughter, wife, mom, and sister. Most of all she loved being “Nana” to her two handsome grandsons.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rev. John E. Halderman of Boiling Springs; daughter, Stacey H. Harbst and husband Kerry of Boiling Springs; son, Jonathan D. Halderman and wife Jackie of Sunnyvale, CA; sister, Sandra Lemming and husband David of Parkersburg, WV; brother Eric D. Davis and wife Mari of Houston, TX; brother David K. Davis and wife Aidy of Belleville, WV; and grandsons Nathaniel and Samuel Harbst.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Middlesex UMC, 118 N. Middlesex Road, Carlisle, PA with Rev. Jan F. Hughes and Bishop Neil Irons co-officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be a viewing at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
