Phoebe Bear

Phoebe S. Bear, 93, of Carlisle, PA passed on September 25, 2025, at her home. She was born in Somerset County on March 19,1932, to Dewey and Nellie Shaffer. 

Phoebe was preceded in death by her husband Francis L. Bear, her son Michael Bear and her son-in-law Samuel Near. Also her brothers Clarence, Melvin, Robert, and Charles Shaffer and her sisters Vernetta Bunton, Delores Statler, and Mary Lou Bowman.

Phoebe is survived by her remaining three children Phoebe Ann Near, Andrew (Sherri)Bear and Eric (Terry)Bear, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Dewey (Frances)Shaffer and Irvin (Karen)Shaffer.

A private funeral service will be held October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Hoffman Funeral Home, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle, PA 17013. Burial will be at the Church of God Cemetery in Plainfield.
