Paul Richard Dieckman, 76, of Carlisle, died Friday, January 2, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Englewood, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Clifford and Lucy (Smith) Dieckman and the husband of 27 years to Nancy (Dougal) Dieckman.
Paul proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was certified as a Mechanical Engineer and worked in the Insurance industry as a boiler inspector, retiring from Chubb Insurance. Between insurance jobs, he worked on small engines.
Paul’s gift to the world was his passion for fixing and fabricating things. Be it a rusted out 1937 Dodge, a temperamental furnace long past its normal life, or a bicycle salvaged from the scrap heap…he had a gift for knowing how things worked. Though he was a man of few words, his actions were his way of letting everyone know he loved them. He was always eager to help, build and fix whatever needed attention to get his friends and family’s life back on track.
Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his grand-dogs. He was an awesome grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Paul is survived by his children: Eric (Diana) Dieckman, of New Jersey, Megan (Kent) Eberly, of Mechanicsburg, Adam Dieckman, of Montana, Charles (Constance) Patterson, of Glen Rock, Lois (Lee) Thompson, of State College, John (Juile) Patterson, of Lewisberry, Edward (Jennifer) Powers, of Berwick; his grandchildren: Wesley, Wyatt and Dylan Dieckman, all of New Jersey, Garrett, Kaitlyn and Scarlett Eberly, all of Mechanicsburg, Alexander (Anna) Patterson, of Port Matilda, Benjamin Patterson, of New York, Derek Horner, of Tyrone, Leah (Adam) Tussey, of State College, Kailee Patterson and Jordyn Patterson, both of Lewisberry, Kevin Powers and Matthew Powers, both of Berwick; his sister: Judith Schmidt, of Texas.
