Patricia H. Greiss

Patricia H. Greiss of Carlisle passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. Pat was born on March 6, 1946 in Philadelphia to the late James and Bernice (McElhiney) Greiss. Her family moved to Newark, Delaware where she grew up.

Pat was a graduate of Ohio State University and completed graduate work at Wilson College. She was employed by the Carlisle School District for 35 years as a Reading Specialist. She is remembered by her students as a most caring and patient teacher.

Pat was an avid reader and joined in reading clubs at the Bosler Library and Mystery Book Store. Her home was a veritable library with books of every genre. Her collection of books included English and French mysteries which she read back-to-back.

Among her many talents were painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting and jewelry making. She was also a passionate tennis player and fan. She enjoyed taking part in the choir at her church at UUCV and sang with the chorus at Hamilton School.

Pat was fiercely dedicated to animal rights and supported various causes for their protection. She was devoted to her own pets including Cora Sue, Bertie, Maureen, Donovan, Tango, and Mr. Muffin.

Pat is survived by her devoted brother, Peter. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by the close friends she treasured throughout her life.

Burial will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Newark, Delaware at the convenience of her family.
