Mildred K. Houseal, 95, of Carlisle, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 22, 2015 at her residence.
She was born on September 1, 1919 in Carlisle to the late William and Blanche Jones Alexander and was the widow of the late Dr. Harry A. Houseal to whom she was married for 25 years.
Mildred had formerly worked in the retail sales of clothing and was a member of the former Allison United Methodist Church, now the Carlisle United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna M. (and husband Thomas) Landis and Debby L. Zeigler, both of Carlisle; a son, James R. (and wife Patti) Zeigler of Dorset, VT; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Zeigler of Carlisle; five grandchildren, Kathryn Landis of Rutherford, NJ, Justin (and wife Jeanne) Landis of Eugene, OR, Abe (and wife Kara) Landis of Carlisle, Michelle (and husband Timothy) Felton of Carlisle and Taleen (and husband Michael) Palmer of Burlington, NC; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Zeigler and many brothers and sisters.
Public graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1924 Ritner Highway, Carlisle with Rev. James E. VanZandt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of America, Greater Harrisburg Chapter, P.O. Box 101, Enola, PA 17025.
