Mary Frances McAndrews, 90, of Carlisle, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Spring Creek Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
Born March 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John S. Kargol and Mary (Zakrzewski) Kargol. She was a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School and continued her education at Seton Hill University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in English. Throughout her education, she was active in the drama club and featured in plays including Jane Eyre.
After graduating, she taught at Aspinwall High School, where she met her future husband -- Patrick McAndrews. She was most recently employed by the Carlisle Barracks Education Center before retiring.
Mary was a member of the Polish American Women’s Society which is renamed the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She enjoyed gardening, writing, art and spending time with family. In addition, she liked participating in dog shows and raising Golden Retrievers and Newfoundlands.
Surviving Mary are her children: Kevin McAndrews (Isabelle) of Fremont, CA, Annette Wynn (Evan) of Eau Claire, WI and Mary Frances McAndrews of Hummelstown, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Michelle Super (Jordan), Megan McAndrews, Ian McAndrews and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Patrick T. McAndrews and her siblings: Edward Kargol, John Kargol, Casmir Kargol, Anthony Kargol and Theresa Kargol.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Saint Patrick Shrine Church, 152 East Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 at 11am. A viewing will be held Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 5-7pm at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd. Carlisle, PA 17013. Interment will take place at Saint Patrick Cemetery, Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship in her name with Seton Hill University.
