She was assigned to the 5th General Hospital, Harvard Medical Unit. Mary met her husband, Paul, in France. For the next 30 years, she supported her husband as a military wife and together they raised their family. When, Paul, retired, Mary dusted off her nursing cap and returned to her passion of nursing. Mary loved sports, especially watching the Boston Red Sox. She was also a talented knitter as well as an avid reader. It was common for her to have several books going at the same time. In later years, when she could no longer see to read, she loved being read to.
