Martha A. F. Heberlig, 90, of Carlisle, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Claremont Nursing and Rehab Center, Carlisle.
She was born September 7, 1927, in Newville to the late Clarence E. and A. Martha Kramer Brown and was the widow of Wayne S. Heberlig who was the love of her life.
Martha graduated from Carlisle High School in 1945 and went on to attend the Bryn Mawr Nursing School. She was a member of Plainfield First Church of God, Plainfield Lions Club and AARP. Martha enjoyed working as a volunteer for Red Cross and Meals on Wheels. She was formerly employed by Robbins Flowers. Martha enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, singing, crafts, arranging flowers, traveling with her husband, photography and nature. Many people outside of the Heberlig family considered Marty to be a mother figure.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey W. (wife Darlene E.) Heberlig and James E. Sr. (wife Darlene F.) Heberlig both of Carlisle; three daughters, Susan K. Reneker of West Virginia, Sally Ann Heberlig of Carlisle and Jody Marie (companion Beth) Heberlig of Carlisle; six grandchildren, James Jr., Nathan, Jamie, Justin, Erin and Jordan; and two great-granddaughters, Angelique and Riley. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her brother, Clair Brown; her sister, Betty Waggoner; son-in law, Steven W. Reneker and her daughter, Sally’s companion, Richard D. Bear.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Plainfield First Church of God with Rev. Ed Rosenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
