Marcella Kathryn Witten

Marcella Kathryn Witten, of Carlisle, passed away surrounded by her family at her residence on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the age of 83. She was born in Carlisle on September 23, 1940 to the late Mary (Drew) and Mervyn R. Johnson, Sr. 

 

Marcella retired from a long and stellar career as an Executive Assistant for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within the PA Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA). She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle. Marcella enjoyed putting together 3D jigsaw puzzles, curling up with a good book, spending hours in her garden, and crafting, with building elaborate doll houses as her specialty. Most importantly, Marcella set a shining example for what it is to care for loved ones.

 

She is survived by her son Clark Witten of Carlisle, with whom she lived, and her daughter Tracey Lupfer (Jim) also of Carlisle.  She is also survived by her siblings Mona Harris (Tommy) of Killeen, TX, Marsha Owens (Bill) of Carlisle, Mariann Petty (Charles), of Carlisle, Maurice Johnson (Geraldine), of Carlisle.  

 

Marcella was a loving grandmother to Matthew Kelly (Judy), Tyler Kelly, Aimee Jackson, Alyssa Vangi (Tyler), and Renee Lupfer; and a great-grandmother to  Zayden, Kellen, Cameron, Jericho, Ryder, Sage, Carter, and Noah. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Mervyn R. Johnson, Jr.

 

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Hoffman Funeral and Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle.

Interment will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in

Marcella’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.alz.org/nca/donate.
