Lois Jean Evans, 87, passed away on July 28, 2025, at Cumberland Crossings in Carlisle. Born on March 13, 1938, in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of Glenn and Sarah (Hoffman) Klinger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Evans Jr.; her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by her sister Mary Shumate; daughter Karen and son-in-law John Hill; son Franklin “Chip” Evans; grandchildren Heather (with husband Scott Bryan), Nathan Hill (with wife Crystal), Michaela Stout (with husband Taylor), and Caleb Hill; and two great-grandchildren.
Lois graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg and earned her nursing degree from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She began her medical career at Carlisle Hospital in the obstetrics ward before transitioning to family medicine with Drs. Robert Hollen, Harold Kretzing, and Robert Gasull. Lois dedicated over thirty years to Belvedere Medical Practice. After retiring, she continued her commitment to service by working at Dickinson College in the dining hall.
Lois was deeply devoted to her family and cherished traveling with friends, sister, grandchildren, and extended relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 South Spring Garden Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Jake Waybright officiating.
In place of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to the Cumberland Crossing Benevolent Fund.
