Linda Gail Hunt

Linda Gail Hunt (Monroe), of Shippensburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Linda was born on November 10, 1948, in Bennington, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Lewis George and Gertrude Elizabeth (Carpenter) Monroe.

Linda went to school for cosmetology after graduating from Hoosick Falls Central School in 1968.  Her interests included her love of Corvettes, painting, word searches, and being out in her flower garden watching the butterflies and hummingbirds. Linda enjoyed having campfires with her husband and family, as well as time with her dogs. Linda enjoyed becoming GiGi to her great grandchildren. 

Linda is survived by four daughters, Melinda Bowen (Don) of Shaftsbury VT, Julie Hunt-Dague (David) of Upper Strasburg PA, Stacy Scott (Jason) of St. Augustine FL and Amy Surdam (Steve) of White Creek NY; grandchildren, Kaiyla Doyle (Chris Doyle), Alexx Guertin (pre-deceased), Stephen Surdam, Tianna Reed (Tyler), Sabrina and Nathaniel Aiken, Ashley and Michaela Bowen and April Clyde. Linda also leaves behind seven great grandchildren, Abigail and Hailey Doyle, Sawyer Surdam-Crawford, Everleigh Surdam, Blake, Amelia and Addison Reed. Linda is survived by her brother Donald Monroe as well as several nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her husband James E Hunt, and two brothers, Sonny (Lewis Jr) and David.

Per Lindas’ request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in her memory.
