Lillian Davis

Lillian Jean Davis, 89, of Carlisle, PA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was a cherished mother, devoted wife and loving grandmother whose quiet strength and steady faith shaped the lives of all who knew her.

Born in Prospect, PA, on September 9, 1936, Lillian is the daughter of the late John Grindel and Magdalena (George) Grindel. Lillian grew up with a deep sense of family that guided her throughout her life. She married young and dedicated herself to raising a loving, close-knit family and making a home that was warm, welcoming and enduring.

Lillian is survived by her six children, Wayne Davis (Joie), Bruce Davis (Brenda), Russell Davis (Susan), Gail Trimmer (Randy), Barry Davis (fiancé Rhonda), and Denise Fegley (Paul). She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her grandchildren were a particular source of joy. She took great pleasure in watching them play and grow, sharing traditions that linked the past with the future. Lillian’s love was steady and demonstrative in the small, everyday ways that left lasting impressions.

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Samuel Davis, her mother and father, and her ten siblings, Magdalena, Mary, John, Ambrose, Robert, Rose, Norbert, Audrey, Louis “Pete”, and Lorraine.

Lillian grew up in Prospect, PA, later married and made her home in Harrisburg, PA for 60 years, she then spent the last nine years of her life in Carlisle, PA.

Lillian enjoyed traveling, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church. She will be remembered for the dignity with which she met life’s challenges and for the warmth of her kindness to all who entered her life. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends, family, and neighbors.

In keeping with Lillian’s Catholic faith, a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Viewing will be Thursday, April 9,

2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at Saint Patrick Catholic Church at 85 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015.

Lillian will be laid to rest with her husband, Samuel, at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Friday,

April 10, 2026, at 9:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lillian’s honor to Saint Patrick Catholic Church and/or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
