Karen R. Hollen

Karen R. Hollen, 82, of Carlisle, passed away June 26, 2026.

Born October 16, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Ruth K. (Hursch) Knerr.

Karen is survived by her step-children, Amy Hollen-Dilko, Douglas Hollen (Bernice), Bethann Blood (Ronald), David Hollen (Roxanne) and John Hollen (Tawnia), her grandchildren, Natasha Nayduch (John), Gerald Hollen, Austin Blood, Ryan Blood (Kaitlyn), Alexander Blood, Sarah Hollen, Katie Hollen, Kia Hollen, and Olivia Hollen, and her 2 great grandchildren, Nora Nayduch and Gage Blood.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Robert Hollen, whom she shared nearly 40 years of marriage, and her sister, Nikki Knerr.

Karen was a graduate of Central Dauphin High School and obtained her nursing license from the Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital. She was employed at the Carlisle Hospital as a pediatric nurse for many years. She was a previous member of the American Lung Association Board, United Way Board, Infection Control Organization at the Carlisle Hospital and served as a nurse with the Harrisburg Youth Diabetes Camp. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Carlisle and served on numerous committees there. Karen performed in many of the Carlisle Hospital Auxiliary Follies, and enjoyed singing in the Letort Spring residents’ choir.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 1:00pm- 2:00pm at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 21 S Bedford Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. A memorial service will directly follow the visitation.
