Judy Darlene Kern was born August 10, 1947 in St. Petersburg, Florida to Joseph T. Scanio and Doris O. (nee Adams) Scanio of Tampa, Florida.

Beloved wife of David Edward Kern, Sr.

Judy was very well traveled as her father worked in insurance and they moved, frequently spending some time in Florida, Georgia and even Puerto Rico. She was a member of Jefferson High School ROTC and Optimist Club, graduating in 1965. She went on to work for Maas Brothers Department Store in the Customer Service Department. Judy also worked and retired from the YWCA of Carlisle after 25 years of service.

David and Judy were married in Tampa, Florida at the MacDill Air Force Base Chapel on August 4, 1979. Judy was a member of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.

In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by her children: Lori Lea (Johns) Soskil, David Edward Kern, Jr., and Joseph Clifton as well as her five grandchildren: Abigail Soskil, Michael Soskil, Jr., Lucas Martin Kern, Josie May Kern and Ezri Cecilia Kern.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am Friday, April 19, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 E. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg with her interment taking place following Mass at 2:30 pm in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
