John Burkholder

John L. Burkholder, 92, of Carlisle, died Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his home.

Born in Newville, he was the son of the late John D. and Mary (Wagner) Burkholder and the husband of the late JoAnn Burkholder, who passed away in January of 2025.

Starting at the age of 16, John began working at Kinney Shoe and worked there as a Purchasing Agent until his retirement. He then worked part-time at Stake’s Furniture Store, Newville.

John also enjoyed gardening and wood working and was an active member of Newville Church of the Brethren.

Survivors include his daughters: Kim L. Yinger (Bill), of Newville, Karen L. Morrison (Mike), of Carlisle; his grandchildren: Michelle Grenoble (Brad), of Carlisle, Andrew Morrison (Melissa), of Carlisle, Brian Yinger (Shelby), of Shippensburg; his great grandchildren: Bryce Grenoble, Corinne Grenoble, Maddox Morrison, Marleigh Morrison, Mathias Morrison as well as his brother: William Burkholder, of Carlisle.

In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert and Paul Burkholder and his sister: Helen Nickle.

Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
