JoAnn E. Heishman

JoAnn E. “Nan” Heishman of Carlisle, passed away on June 4th, 2025, at Cumberland Crossings.

JoAnn was born on Thursday April 22, 1937, in Carlisle to Joseph R. and Gladys M. (Cameron) Blackburn.

In her early years JoAnn loved to sew. She made many special outfits for her daughters, and she was especially well known for sewing many “Barbie” outfits for Christmas gifts.

JoAnn enjoyed cooking and baking, she would often bake 10 pies at at time and dinner every Sunday for the family to enjoy. Making her chicken corn soup and Bar-B-Que for North Middleton Baseball, Carlisle Midget Football, Carlisle Wrestling and other organizations was he way of giving back to the community.

She enjoyed following the sporting events and activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Known affectionately as Nan, she had a hand in helping to raise many children through the years that she babysat.

JoAnn was a former member of Waggoners Church. 

She is survived by her two daughters: Cathy Raraigh, and Caryn Wilson, son-in law Chuck Bear all of Carlisle, 8 grandchildren, Corey (wife Megan) Bear, and their children, Alexis and Nathan, Craig Bear, and his sons Aaron, Benjamin, Colston and Donovan, Duff Raraigh, Joey Wilson and his daughter, Charlee, Carly (husband Wes) Snider and their children, Colton, Riley, Bryce and Landon, Jake (wife Elizabeth) Wilson and their children Emily, Levi and a baby on the way, Caity (husband Travis) Ruhl and their son, Nolan, and Jarrett Wilson; her sister Flossie Follins; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was proceeded in death by her husband Donald K. Heishman, daughter Cindy Bear and by two sons-in law, Kim C. Raraigh and Barry L. Wilson.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
