Joan K. Willits

Joan Willits, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Cumberland Crossings in Carlisle at the age of 90. Born December 23, 1933 in Nanticoke, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bridget “Betty” (Walsh) 

and Chester Kamowski, Sr. She was the wife of the late Frederick B. Willits.

She worked for 34 years for the former Bell Telephone Company, while mainly providing administrative support to the engineering department in Harrisburg. She later worked for Weight Watchers as a receptionist for 15 years 

until retiring.

Joan was a longtime member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, in Carlisle. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was steadfastly devoted to family and enjoyed reading and traveling.

She is survived by a brother, Robert Kamowski (wife Linda), of Carlisle, sister-in-law Joan E. Kamowski, of Carlisle, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was

predeceased by her brother, Chester Kamowski, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 29 at Saint Patrick Catholic (Shrine Church), 152 E. Pomfret Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Donald Bender as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joan’s memory to Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, Ltd., 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
