Joan L. Munger, 89, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of heaven on the morning of November 26, 2025. 

Born on June 7, 1936, in Iola, Kansas, Joan was the daughter of the late Delbert Ray Thornbrugh and Willa Jane Thornbrugh. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Murl Munger, who passed away two years prior in 2023.

 Joan’s life was defined by her unwavering kindness, positive outlook, and dedication to her family. A proud patriot and military wife for 32 years, she traveled extensively with Murl, once serving as the President of the Officers' Wives Club at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She was an active member of her faith community, including the First Christian Church in Iola, KS, and was committed to raising her children in a Christian home. In her younger years, Joan worked as a telephone operator in Lawrence, KS. She embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying bowling, tennis, softball, and swimming, and dedicated time to her community as a Den Leader for her son’s Boy Scouts pack. Demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit, Joan was also one of the country's first and most successful AMWAY Distributors. Above all, Joan was a loving and giving person who never complained and always maintained a bright outlook on life.

 Her family was the center of her world. She is survived by her four children: Deborah Davison (Alan) of Richland, Missouri; Vicky Munger Husler of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; Terry McCrum (Duane) of St. Charles, Missouri; and Dee Munger (Jennifer) of Greenville, South Carolina. She was a loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and one step granddaughter. David Davision and Amanda Ferguson; Angela Anderson and Heston Husler; Michael and Ryan McCrum, Rachel and Matthew Munger and Erica Smith. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Heston Husler, and grandson, Heston James Husler.

 A funeral service will take place at Hoffman Funeral Home, 2020 W. Trindle Road in Carlisle, PA, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. There will be a viewing from 1-2 pm followed by a service at 2 pm. An interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas, where she will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband.
