Jean Bouder

Jean Bouder, 97, of Shippensburg, passed away on September 17, 2025, at Shippensburg Rehabilitation and Health Center.

Born on February 24, 1928 in Shermans Dale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Blumenschein) Brownawell. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her husband, Clarence E. Bouder, Sr.; son; Clarence E. Bouder, Jr. “Butch”; sisters; Ethel Madaluna, Catharine Mattis, Shirley Nesmith and Sarah Shifflett; brothers; Charles, George, John & Irvin Brownawell.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Darlene Mixell, and two sons; Galen and Lee Bouder. She is additionally survived by 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

She was employed by Reeves-Hoffman Crystal Factory as an Inspector before retiring. Throughout her life, Jean was an active member of many local organizations; she was a charter member of the Moose Lodge of Carlisle and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1299, Ladies Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Carlisle VFW Post 477 and an active member of AMVETS Post 274 and the American Legion Post 223.

Jean will fondly be remembered for being an avid bingo player. She also enjoyed numerous card games and traveling with her family and friends.

A viewing will be held at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 West Trindle Road, Carlisle, PA, 17013 from 11am-1pm on Tuesday September 23, 2025. A graveside service will proceed the viewing at Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Rd, Carlisle, PA 17013 at 2pm. Friends and family are invited to meet directly at the cemetery following the viewing as there will be no procession from the funeral home.
