Janet L. Taylor, of Jackson, Michigan, was born June 3rd, 1941, to the late Emerson Grindall and Eva (Stone) Grindall. In her early years of life Janet moved from Michigan to State College, Pennsylvania, where she lived most of her life. Janet was married to the late William Taylor, with whom she shared 41 loving years of marriage before his passing. Janet was highly educated and studied at the University of Michigan during her undergrad program. She then went on to earn two master’s degrees in education. Janet used this education to teach 3rd and 5th grade, specializing in learning disabilities. In 1982 Janet and William moved to Germany. Here she taught at the Department of Defense schools. Together the two spent 18 years filled with hiking, traveling, gardening, and finding treasures in flea markets in Germany. Janet returned to the states where she settled in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 2000. Janet was highly active in archaeology and historical research. She volunteered for the Cumberland County historical society as well as the Perry Historians. Janet loved to share the wealth of her knowledge and even wrote articles for local history journals as well as several books. She volunteered and worked on an archaeological dig at Clarks Ferry in Duncannon, Pennsylvania.

Janet is predeceased by her husband, William, her sister, Deborah McNeill, and her brother, Jon Grindall. Janet is survived by her sister, Emily Dame (John), her daughters, Roxanne Hambright and Linda Fahnestock, and her son, Daniel Taylor (Jill). Janet is also survived by her many grandchildren, Taylor Sidenstick (Jen), Brittany Strouth (Dan), Alicia Rathmell (Joey Fabiankovitz), Ian Fahnestock (Joe R.), David Taylor, and her great grandchildren, Vivian Lea Strouth, Sammy Austin Strouth, and Eva Grace Strouth.

A memorial service will be held at Hoffman Funeral and Cremation at 2020 W Trindle Road, Carlisle, Pa, 17013 on Monday, May 13th at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA. Home - Hospice of Central PA.
