Jane M. Chronister

Jane M. Chronister, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, April 7 at Holy Spirit Medical Center at the age of 85. Born in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Carroll and Audrey Theo Moore Miller. She was the loving wife of the late Percy K. Chronister.

Jane earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the former Lewistown Hospital Nursing School prior to embarking upon her career as a registered nurse. She worked as an RN for years at Carlisle Hospital and later as a psychiatric nurse at the former Stevens Mental Health Center until her retirement.

Jane was an avid gardener, and particularly enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren Alexa, Matthew, and Sarah. She was a lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church, Carlisle.

In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by a daughter Laurie Weitzel (husband William) of Carlisle; and sons Kevin Chronister (wife Marika) of Carlisle, and Brett Chronister (wife Cindy) of Sinking Spring, PA. A sister Shirley Miller, of Albuquerque, NM also survives her. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m. at Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Road, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jane’s memory to Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
