James “Mark” Clippinger, 81, of Carlisle, PA, passed away on January 15, 2022 at UPMC Carlisle. He was born August 31, 1940, in Barnitz, PA to the late John M. and Blanche (Fulton) Clippinger.
Mark graduated from Boiling Springs High School in 1958. He went on to work for Ahlstrom Paper Group Filtration Company and retired as a supervisor after 43 years of service. Mark had lifetime memberships with the National Rifle Association, North American Hunting Club, North American Fishing Club, Carlisle Eagles Club #1299, and the White Circle Club and was also a 45-year member of the Triple Trophy Hunting Camp. Other memberships included the Carlisle Elks Lodge and the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion and the St. Paul Lutheran Church where Mark was a member of the Fellowship Committee, usher and participated in the peanut butter egg ministry. Most especially Mark cherished spending time with his beloved family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Linda (Peterson) Clippinger; children Mark Allen Clippinger and his wife Michele of Kitty Hawk, NC, Judith C. Largent and her husband James, Jr. of Newville, PA, Cheryl L. Rechtor and her husband Steven of Carlisle, PA, and Jonathan I. Clippinger and his wife Ann of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, and brother Harold E. Clippinger of Lewisberry, PA. Also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Mark was preceded in death by daughters Susan Mae Clippinger and Jody Marie Clippinger; brothers John W. Clippinger and Kenneth E. Clippinger and sister Kathryn Fenton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther St., Carlisle, PA 17013. Visitation will be held on Friday at the church from 10:00AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
