Helen Y. "Toodles" Bender

Helen "Toodles" Bender, of Carlisle, passed away Monday, November 13 at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center at the age of 76 while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late James M. and Helen G. Moose Morrow. She was the loving wife of the late Donald L. Bender, Sr.

Helen worked as a customer service representative for the former United Telephone Company until her retirement.

She was a member of the VFW post 477 in Carlisle and was director of cheerleading for the Carlisle midget football program for 8 years. She was also a member of The Meeting House TMH Carlisle. Affectionately known by family and friends as "Toodles," she was a known Penn State, Indianapolis Colts, and New York Yankees fan. Additionally, she was a longtime devoted fan of Elvis Presley.

Surviving are a daughter Lynn Wolfe, of Carlisle; son William Wolfe Jr. (Donna), of Taipei, Taiwan; step-daughters Donna Eckman, of Lancaster County, Donna Thorson (Michael), of Newport News, VA, Sherry Guise, of Carlisle, Lisa Bender of Carlisle, and Jennifer Bender, of Jersey City, NJ; a step-son Donald Bender Jr., of Carlisle, and brothers James Morrow (Leona), of Baltimore, Maryland and William Morrow (Jeannie), of Newville, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Helen was predeceased by a son, Tony Lee Wolfe; brothers Ron and Deemer Morrow, Sr., and sister Shirley Enck.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2023 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Rd., Carlisle with the Rev. Richard Reese officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
