Helen Phyllis Groninger

Helen P. Groninger (Phyllis), of Carlisle, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. She was 91. Born in Huntingdon, PA she was the daughter of the late John C. and Elva (Conrad) Davis. She was the loving wife of the late William Groninger.

Phyllis was a graduate of Huntingdon High School, and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Juniata College, which facilitated several years of teaching home economics first for the Juniata School District, and then several school districts around the Camp Hill area. She then worked 26 years as an accounting clerk for Christian Publications until her retirement in 1998. 

Phyllis was a member of the former Camp Hill Alliance for many years, and she enjoyed serving in many different ministries at church. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

Surviving are a son, Mark Groninger (wife Beth), of Carlisle; daughter Alisa Eramo (husband Mark), of Enola; brother Harold Davis (late wife Ginny), of McElevys Fort, PA; and sisters Doris Zucca (late husband Louis), of Vineland, NJ; and Marlene Sampsel (husband Mike) of Milton, PA. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Norman Davis.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21 in the chapel at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle, 770 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 with the Rev. Steve Motter officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phyllis’s name to the Benevolent Fund at Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
