Gerry M. Irwin

Geraldene M. “Gerry” Irwin died on August 21, 2026. She left her earthly body and her soul was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she faithfully loved and served all her adult life.

Gerry was born May 5, 1938 in Stockertown, PA. She was the daughter of Audrey and Annabel Mack. In 1946 ger family moved to a farm at the intersection of Lisburn and Shughart Roads. She graduated as valedictorian of the South Middleton Township High School Class 0f 1956.

She married Roger B. Irwin, a respected lawyer in Carlisle, on August 28, 1956. While she worked briefly as a legal secretary and fifty years as a bookkeeper for her husband’s law firm, she felt her true calling was as a supportive wife and loving mother of their two children. As in Proverbs 31:28-“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.”

Gerry confessed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through baptism and joined Grace Baptist Church in 1955. She served the Lord as a teachers aide in the Christian School, helped with DVBS, was president of the Ladies’ Prayer and Missionary Fellowship for several terms, and taught women’s Bible study class for many years. Many women sought her wisdom and counsel. She always remembered to pray with and for them. Many friends will miss her support and loving concern for them.

Gerry and her husband, Roger, spent time together every day in reading the Bible, devotional books and in prayer. They enjoyed playing golf together and traveled to many distant places with their family. Their lives together were truly blessed and they blessed others through their love for the Lord, for each other and for their family.

Roger predeceased Gerry on February 22, 2020. As they shared everything together in life their bodies will await the resurrection together in Westminster Cemetery where Gerry’s body will be buried beside his.

Gerry will be sadly missed by her devoted family consisting of her son, Daniel Irwin, of Carlisle, her daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and Tomas Fredlund, of Union Hall, VA, her grandson, Jared Fredlund and his wife, Molly Jung and her granddaughter, Chelsey Fredlund.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Arlene Scheffler and Betty Ritter and her brother, Dr. Wayne Mack.

Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Grace Baptist Church, 777 W. North Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Jeff Oliver and Pastor Matt Purdy officiating. Her burial in Westminster Cemetery will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the church after the burial.
