George E. Brownawell

George E. Brownawell, 77, of Carlisle died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at his home.

Born April 7, 1934, in Perry County, he was a son of the late Frank and Florence Blumenschein Brownawell.

He was a graduate of Carlisle High School. George was a member of American Legion Post 101, Carlisle. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Korean War.

Surviving are a daughter, Diane Christy of Carlisle; granddaughter, Jasmyn Joy Wycoff of Carlisle; one brother, Charles Brownawell of Delmont; and one sister, Jean Bouder of Newville.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and a nephew.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with military honors.
