Gary Lee Matthews

Gary Lee Matthews, 81, of Carlisle, passed away on February 6, 2026.

Born in Buies Creek, North Carolina, on April 2, 1944, Gary is the son of the late Earsie Matthews and Mae (Farrell) Matthews.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Pollyanne (Hill) Matthews, his 2 nephews, 1 niece, and 5 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two cats, Scooter and Daisy.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Jackie Alessi, and his sister, Glenda Thomas.

Gary was a medical corpsman, serving in Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. He then went on to work at CVS and Lowe's before his retirement. He enjoyed reading, particularly history, as well as watching movies about history. He loved his wife and his cats dearly. 

A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation. Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
