Floyd B. Eckenroad Jr, 89, of Carlisle was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Born December 12, 1936, in Jeannette, he was a son of the late Floyd B. and Olive (Wood) Eckenroad Sr.
Floyd joined the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Before deploying to Korea, he married the former Kathleen Baloh. He served in the Army until being honorably discharged in 1962.
Upon returning home to Irwin, Floyd began his lifelong career as a truck driver. During this time, he and Kathy began their family, raising Alan, Lori and Mark. Eventually Floyd’s job transferred his family to Carlisle where Kathleen preceded him in death in 2011.
On July 5, 2013, Floyd married the former Gail (Gleichman) Greg, welcoming her children: Josh, Anna and Sam, as his own. Floyd and Gail shared 12 years of marriage.
Floyd was a dedicated member of the former Carlisle Wesleyan Church of the Cross, now Wellspring Wesleyan. There he taught Sunday School, served on the church board and sang in the choir. He also served as a Lay Minster. Floyd lived out his faith well- whether it be sharing his testimony or lending a helping hand.
Over the years, Floyd enjoyed tending to his garden and property.
Together with Gail, he was an active member of the gym.
In addition to his wife, Gail Eckenroad of Carlisle, he is survived by his children: Alan (Lorie) Eckenroad of Lock Haven, Lori Smith of Carlisle and Mark (Trish) Eckenroad of Carlisle; grandchildren: Jennifer (Dustin) Sholley, Benjamin (Ashley) Smith, Kellie (Ron) Kuhn and Ty (Fiancée Gabby) Eckenroad; great grandchildren: Stella, Rhys Smith; Daniel, Mollie, Emilie Kuhn; and a sister: Shirley Pratt of Jeannette. Also surviving are his step-children: Joshua Gregg, Anna (Blake) Burkhalter and Samuel Gregg; step-grandchildren Jaxon, Carson, Morgan Burkhalter.
Along with his parents and first wife, Kathleen Eckenroad, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Eckenroad, Sr. and sisters, Dorothy Clark and Patricia Hill.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026 at Wellspring Wesleyan Church, 430 B Street, Carlisle, PA 17013 where the family will greet guests after 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Floyd’s name may be made to the church at the address above.
