Florance Kathern Williams, 95, of Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Brookdale at Grandon Farms.
Born April 30, 1930 in Algona, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Hilda (Voss) Otto and the wife of the late Robert Hollenbaugh and the late Harold Williams.
Florance was a graduate of the former Dillsburg High School, class of 1947 and attended Carlisle Commercial College, taking Junior accounting courses.
She worked at The Evening Sentinel, G.R. Kinney Offices and 23 years for the Dept. of Agriculture, Cumberland County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Services (ASCS), retiring in 1986.
She loved her family and her family loved her. Florance attended many games, musicals, weddings and graduations for her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed hosting family and friends at her home and whether it was a small intimate meal or a large party, Flornace made everyone feel welcome.
She liked gardening and keeping her flower beds and lawn looking their best. Florance also loves to travel on group tours or just with her husband, family or friends. She has been in many countries and most every state. She liked collecting and wearing jewelry. Florance faithfully attended the Otto Family Reunion and held the office of Secretary for many years. She will be greatly missed.
Florance is survived by her step-son, Craig L. (Sharon) Williams, of Carlisle; her step-daughter, Susan Rudolph, of New Jersey; her sister, Charlotte Pelton, of Biglerville as well as 17 nieces and nephews (2 are deceased).
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Boyd Otto, Lewis Otto and Robert Otto; her sister, Ruth Heller; her step-daughter, Cynthia Williams and her step-son-in-law, Robert Rudolph.
Florance enjoyed traveling and reading. She was an active member and served as a deaconess at First United Church of Christ, Carlisle for many years. She was also a member of National Association of Federal Retirees (NARF) chapter 373 as well as a life member of VFW Auxiliary # 4643 in Satellite Beach, FL.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026 at First United Church of Christ, 30 N. Pitt Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, where the family will greet guests after 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Florance’s name may be made to First United Church of Christ at the address above.
