Elva “Jean” Bixler, 94, of Boiling Springs, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Green Ridge Village Nursing Home. Born on August 6, 1931, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late John K. and Elva (Myers) Bixler Sr., and the sister of the late John K. Bixler Jr. Jean was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and Penn State University, where she majored in Art. She later became an Occupational Therapist and worked at the Cleveland Clinic with primarily veterans of World War II. She was called home to assist in the care of her grandparents and later the care of her parents. Jean was also employed by the Christian Book Store in Lemoyne.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Boiling Springs. Jean was known for her love of butterflies and water fowl, particularly ducks. She was known in the Village of Boiling Springs for her skills in rehabilitating injured ducks that were brought to her by local citizens.
Surviving Jean is a nephew, John K. Bixler III (Debra); two great nieces, Christine D. Heiges (Doug) and Catherine M. Morris (Jonathan); a great nephew, John T. Bixler (Stephanie). Jean was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothea E. Bixler and a nephew, William L. Bixler.
