Dorothy Naugle

December 1, 1946 — February 12, 2026

Dorothy “Dotty” L. Naugle, 79, passed away peacefully in Carlisle Hospital on February 12, 2026. Her husband, Terry, preceded her in death by 5 weeks. Dotty and Terry were married in Carlisle on June 30, 1973, and spent 52 years loving each other.

Dotty was born in Carlisle on December 1, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Caroline Lloyd.

She was also preceded in death by her brother John Lloyd. Dotty is survived by her daughter, Teah Hertzler (Michael) and granddaughters Emma and Erin of Swedesboro, NJ, son Jonathan and grandpup Jasmine of Carlisle, sister-in-law Cathleen Lloyd of Plainfield, IN, niece Elizabeth Christian (Derek) and great nephews Blake and Chase of Plainfield, IN, aunt Dorothy Stringfellow of Carlisle and many cousins.

A graduate of Carlisle High School, Dotty was employed at Sera’s Cleaners, spent time as a stay-at-home mom and then retired from Book of the Month Club after more than 15 years. Dotty and her husband Terry spent over 40 years as caretakers, first to children in the foster care system and later to adults with special needs. She spent a lot of her time volunteering for her children’s sports organizations and school functions.

Dotty had a great sense of humor and even after becoming dialysis-dependent in early 2024 she still kept her silliness and amusing ways. She was a social butterfly and talked to everyone, making friends everywhere she went. Dotty loved word searches, Hallmark movies and playing canasta, which she taught to her daughter and granddaughter Erin, always citing her number one rule: PAY ATTENTION! She enjoyed camping in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s and in later years vacationing in Wildwood with her family.

Arrangements are being held privately. Placing of the cremated remains for Dotty and Terry will be May 22, 2026, at 2:30pm at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dotty’s name to The National Kidney Foundation https://www.kidney.org/.
