Donald Charles Simmons

 Donald C. Simmons, 89, of Carlisle, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on July 24th, 2025. 

Born in Ford Cliff, PA, on August 28th, 1935, Donald is the son of the late Robert and Esther Simmons.

Donald is preceded in death by his mother and father, 8 brothers, and 1 sister.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sue (Cawley) Simmons, his daughters, Kim Lehr (Jon), Carrie Bryant (D. Shaun), and Amy Gobin (Bryan), his son, Donald Simmons Jr. (Elizabeth Gibson), his brothers, Lowell and Edward Simmons, his sisters, Shirley Fry and Ruth Delacour, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. 

In his earlier years, Donald was a part of the Army National Guard. He was a scout leader for the boy scouts, as well as a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Donald worked for PPG for 44 years before he ultimately retired in August of 1997.

Donald enjoyed golfing, model trains, brick laying, and wood working. He was a carpenter as well as a well-rounded handy man.

A memorial service will be held at the Carlisle United Methodist Church. Details of the service will be announced at a later date.
