It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald James Conaway, of Carlisle, PA, beloved husband, brother and friend who departed this life on October 25, 2025, at the age of 76. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Born January 29, 1949, in Towanda, New York, he was the son of the late Homer and D. Jean (Wagner) Conaway. He is survived by his wife, Eva Kuntz Conaway, his twin brother, Ronald (Pat) Conaway and sister Kelly Zimmerman.
He was a graduate of Mechanicsburg Area High School and Shippensburg State University. His college education was interrupted by his enlistment in the U.S. Army.
While serving in the Army, he was stationed in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. He returned to finish his degree while working in accounting for Department of the Navy in Mechanicsburg. Upon retirement, he used those skills to serve Lower Frankford Township as Manager.
He was a man of many talents; he designed and built his own home in the mountains. He would never turn down a chance to fish with friends, and he has created wood carvings and paintings in various mediums in later years.
Funeral services will be private and held a later date.
