David C. Rinker, Jr., 77, of Carlisle, died Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
Born in Hanover, he was the son of the late David and Elizabeth (Warner) Rinker and husband of the late Linda (Raudabaugh) Rinker, who passed away January 23, 2024.
David graduated from Bermudian Springs High School, class of 1967 where he was actively involved in FFA.
He lived the life of a farmer and worked his entire life farming and/or doing something related to farming/animals. He began milking cattle and working as a herdsman at the age of 17 when he worked for Kermit Zigler. After a time working at Leo’s Dairy, he continued with Jeff Stamey, Barricks and Weary’s Farms and Triple L. He also spent weekends working as a Relief Breeder for ABS. David concluded his working career at Giant’s on Walnut Bottom Road where he was a janitor and all-around “talker” to people.
David enjoyed snowmobiling in his younger years, mowing grass and going to fairs, especially the Shippensburg Fair. But what gave him the most joy was farming and being involved in 4-H with Sonya and then his grandson Lane. David absolutely loved spending time with Lane.
David is survived by his daughter: Sonya Henisee (Tom); his grandson: Lane Henisee; his brother: Hugh Rinker; his sister: Geneva Holtzinger as well as his nieces: Robin Pifer (Matt) and Tiffany Robinson (Jason).
