Cloyd M. Hull, Jr.

July 14, 1938 — February 26, 2023

Cloyd M. Hull, Jr., 84, of Marysville, PA., passed away peacefully at home, as he wished, on Feb. 26.

Cloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jo Hull, née Witmer, whom he met in Carlisle while cruising in his ’67 Mustang before boldly proposing mere weeks later.

He is also survived by his daughter, Kathryn L. (Leandro) Fletes and his son, Cloyd M. “Buddy” (Michelle) Hull III, both of Medford, OR.; his son, Rikardo J. (Robin) Hull, of Gladwyne, PA.; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Born in Landisburg, PA., Cloyd was pre-deceased by his parents, Cloyd M. Hull, Sr. and Kathryn Hull; his sisters, Evelyn Wilkinson and Natalie Dum; and his son, Randall J. Hull.

Cloyd served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1974, including two tours in Germany, tours in Iran and Libya, and several stateside posts.

He retired in 2001 after a lengthy career with Norfolk Southern (NS) railroad, where he worked in the Enola Yards. He then worked for the Renzenberger Corporation from 2011-2018, providing shuttle service for NS crews.

Cloyd was proud to directly descend from a long line of Hulls in Perry County – enduring for every generation since the 1760s. He was a longtime member of the Bethany United Methodist Church in Marysville.

Like his father, Cloyd, Jr. was mechanically inclined and naturally gifted at working with his hands. He enjoyed cross-country vacations and camping with his family, cheating at board games (and giggling when caught), and texting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, comically misusing emojis.

A celebration of life will be held this summer for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Cloyd’s family would appreciate donations to Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania (
